Hole 1 - Men - Par 4, 335m (11/27) Ladies - Par 4, 302m (10)
Dog-leg right opening Par 4 hole where a 185m shot will leave you on top of the plateau opening up the green for the downhill approach of 150m. The longer hitters can take it over the trees right with driver (you can go a lot further right than you may think) to leave just a pitch to the green and hopefully an opening birdie.

Hole 2 - Men - Par 5, 483m (9/25) Ladies - Par 4, 332m (2)
Gentle dogleg right Par 5 that requires the longer hitters to work a fade to hold the fairway. This leaves a relatively straight-forward 200+m shot into a long 2 tier green where all the trouble is left of the surface, with a slope taking balls down toward the wetlands.

Hole 3 - Men - Par 3, 147m (15/35) Ladies - Par 3, 129m (18)
This picturesque Par 3 is Shortland's signature hole where a small water carry is required to reach this slightly uphill green where the putting surface is barely visable. The only danger here is over the back, don't go long!

Hole 4 - Men - Par 4, 358m (5/23) Ladies - Par 4, 291m (6)
Dogleg left Par 4 where the right hand side of the fairway needs to be favoured to get a good look at the green over the gully. Fairway runs out from the tee at about 230m and once again, over the green is where the main trouble lies.

Hole 5 - Men - Par 4, 401m (1/19) Ladies - Par 4, 291m (15)
Straight away long Par 4 that requires a small carry to reach the long flat fairway, but at the other end, the bigger hitters can take advantage of the downhill slope at 270m to gain some extra metres. Par is always a good score here.

Hole 6 - Men - Par 3, 167m (7/33) Ladies - Par 3, 138m (9)
Another good par 3 that is back over the gully and where the green is surrounded by bunkers. Relatively flat green and bail out is short left.

Hole 7 - Men - Par 4, 301m (13/29) Ladies - Par 4, 293m (7)
A wide sloping fairway that feeds your ball right for the shorter hitter, but narrows up toward the green on this tricky par 4. Taking driver for the long ball requires a very precise shot that hugs the left side of the fairway to avoid the hazard right of the entire hole. Avoid the greenside bunker to the right to set yourself up for a makeable putt on this small green.

Hole 8 - Men - Par 5, 452m (17/31) Ladies - Par 4, 331m (3)
A tough tee shot for all players on this sloping left/dogleg right short par 5. Bunkers are strategically placed at around 220m on the left that leaves a very narrow alleyway along the right side tree line if taking driver. Once the drive is negotiated, a drawing approach shot is needed to find the putting surface where 2 putts is more than acceptable on this sizable green.

Hole 9 - Men - Par 4, 367m (3/21) Ladies - Par 4, 352m (1)
Straightaway par 4 where hitting the fairway is a must, as any mishit shots are punished by thick trees and generally no look at the green. A flat putting surface that drops away sharply long and right of the green.

Hole 10 - Men - Par 4, 297m (18/32) Ladies - Par 4, 285m (12)
A short, wide and straight par 4 that gives you a chance to get off to a good start on the back 9. Long hitters need to be wary of the bunkers that flank the sides of the green about 20m of the front surface.

Hole 11 - Men - Par 5, 513m (12/26) Ladies - Par 5, 470m (4)
A testing par 5 that meets golfers with a wide fairway that slopes gently to the right. Keep you tee shot on the left half and get your second to the top of the hill to give you a good look at the green for your approach. Longer hitter can take aim to hit the green in two and as you can't see the green, the best line is the right side of the big gum tree.

Hole 12 - Men - Par 4, 376m (2/20) Ladies - Par 4, 302m (10)
A tough par 4 that starts with a blind tee shot up and over the hill where the fairway then doglegs slightly left. A longer approach shot to a two-tier green can leave a testing putt if on the wrong level. Get your 2 points and move to the next!

Hole 13 - Men - Par 3, 168m (10/36) Ladies - Par 3, 161m (13)
A nice downhill par 3 where mounds block the view of the left side of the green. Shoot for the middle right as anything long and or left will leave you struggling to get a score on this one.

Hole 14 - Men - Par 4, 311m (16/30) Ladies - Par 4, 282m (11)
A great dogleg right short par 4 that must be respected. You are confronted with a blind tee shot where between 180m & 220m is required to get a look at the green. Any shorter and trees will block you on the right, any further and you are through the fairway. Once you have negotiated the approach to this long, narrow green, you will more than like have a sloping putt as it is quite undulating.

Hole 15 - Men - Par 3, 210m (4/34) Ladies - Par 3, 134m (14)
A tough par 3 that requires a long, well directed tee shot to get this green in one. Missing left will leave you in the long grass with an uphill pitch and missing right leaves you above the hole with not much chance of stopping your chip shot on the green.

Hole 16 - Men - Par 4, 327m (8/24) Ladies - Par 4, 262m (16)
On the finishing stretch with a dogleg left par 4 that plays slightly uphill all the way. Keep your tee shot down the right and your approach shot left of the hole for an uphill putt as the green slopes quite severely from right to left.

Hole 17 - Men - Par 4, 334m (14/28) Ladies - Par 4, 295m (8)
Similar shape and length to the last hole, but this par 4 has a hidden ditch at the 200m mark on the left. Do not go down there! Keep it right off the tee and leave yourself with an approach to a green guarded with a bunker on the left and a mound on the right.

Hole 18 - Men - Par 4, 390m (6/22) Ladies - Par 4, 327m (5)
A solid par 4 finishing hole that demands a long straight shot to get to the top of the hill as to get a look at the green for your long downhill approach. Balls landing short will generally chase up and you do not want to go over this green as there is a steep drop-off that feeds down to the gully.
